Photos: Labor Day Kansas Trip

September 2006

The vacation hours had accumulated. It was time... time to return "home", time to see the fam again. It had been many months since my last journey to the state. Unfortunatly, I didn't do a very good job capturing all of the events from the trip... so you'll see the start and the finish.

This was the shortcut I wish I'd never taken. My new-to-me mini cooper and a dirt/gravel road... I'll save the bad news for the next picture. The good news is that despite the bad news, it didn't hinder my time.
This is what a broken motor mount looks like. There was also a broken power steering cooling fan, however I'd already removed that. The really good news is that Bob is an ex metal shop teacher, so we were able to replace that motor mount for $5.
This is what the weekend was really about... putting up a fence!
Ryan and his "puppy" Roma working on the north side.
A rare moment: Roma sitting still!
Now we fast forward to the return trip home (skipping past the trip to Manhattan, Kansas City, Topeka & Tulsa). We bring you to beautiful New Mexico (and I thought I'd be the last person who would say that!) It's raining on that hill over yonder.
The clouds and sun were beautiful.
Reflections
It had just rained, so there were all sorts of large puddles along the road. The sky varied from blue to red depending on which direction you looked.
Solitude.
Oh, ow many different ways one could look at this one... twins? I better not say more before I get into too much trouble.
I actually drove right beside those hills. I should've stoped for some pictures there, but my will to make good time got the better of me.
Rain as the sun sets.
The clouds were simply beautiful.
One more, just for good measure.
