The trip from Zurich back to Florence, where it was raining... and the train delayed half an hour, sitting for 15 minutes right outside the station... one might think "oh, it's waiting for a platform to be available." That sounds reasonable, in fact, almost obvious. but, that would be wrong... there were all of about 5 trains at the station when we got off, and I didn't see more than two leave while we were waiting. So, go figure. After finally getting off the train, we went to the rental car place to pickup "my" car. This of course took half an hour, as they hadn't done any of the paperwork ahead of time. Then on to the Villa, about 10 min outside of Poggibonsi. That's where the fun began... and I got sent on an errand to find the train station to pick up Siela. Sounds easy enough, until you realize you have no map, and the GPS doesn't know where the station is. After arriving in town and realizing the "small town" of Poggibonsi wasn't so small that finding the station would be obvious, I decided to stop at the 4 star hotel that I found and ask for directions. This was smart, but, the map they had at the hotel was stupid... oh, you want the map to have lines showing you where the roads go? Not just names scattered about on a piece of paper? You'll have to pay extra for that! Actually, I would have paid to have a real map. After driving around in circles for what seemed like hours, and was very nearly an hour, I finally found the station. Fun times... not really. |
