Photos: Cabo San Lucas

It's trimester break, a week off with no obligations to be anywhere or do anything. The perfect opportunity to hop a plane to Cabo to spend with my folks & Al! My parents bought a time share a couple years ago, so they were able to show us around a bit. Mostly we just relaxed, did some reading, played cads, etc.

We had a nice 2 bedroom unit with a nice sized living area and balcony overlooking the inside of the resort. In fact, there was even 3 full bathrooms.

Also a nice kitchen area. Only convenience lacking was a dishwasher. It worked out thou, Dad filled in nicely :).

The view off the balcony over the bay area. On the other side of those mountains is the 'pacific' side where the waves are much larger. Things stay calm over here for the most part.

Panning to the right you can see the other side of the resort and some of the pools and lounge areas below.

This is the upper pool area at the resort. The canopy you see on the far right is above the area where they have their nightly dinner & show. Aspiring performers that work at the resort put on the show, so it's not exactly professional but still entertaining.

We went to the little shopping area right outside the resort to pick up a few things. I found Zucosos to be a really cool name for a cereal, so I took a picture of it.

Cute little shopping carts, slight larger than the kiddie cards you'll find at some of the grocery stores in the U.S. Again, I was very amused.

Lots of water activities... parasailing, jet skiing, etc... Of course, all was more expensive than I would want to pay, well, maybe for the jet ski's, those are fun. However, the water was still pretty cold so we opted to stay dry.

We took a glass-bottom boat over to Lover's/Divorce beach. We figured since the water was colder than any of us wanted to bear for snorkeling we'd opt for the next best. Still doesn't compare really, but it was interesting at least.

Sneak a peak thru to the pacific.

Here's the arch thing that you'll see in many of the cabo postcards and such. According to the water taxi every 3 years the tide is low enough that the beach shows and you can walk on dry land under the arch. I haven't figured out exactly why that is, alignment of the sun & moon I guess? Of course, it looks more interesting with sand under it so that's what you always see in the advertisements.

Some kids were having fun playing in the waves on Divorce beach. Divorce beach is on the pacific side where the waves are big. Lover's beach is nice and calm as it's on the other side.

We took a dinner cruise. The food was ok, nothing exceptional. It did give us a good tour of the pacific side, all the way to the lighthouse where we went on ATV's the next day. We stayed out until just after sunset.

The beach in the morning.

We took an ATV tour around up to the light house. It took about 20-30 minutes to get there, then we had a good couple hours to play around on the sand dunes there. It reminded me of the dunes on the way to San Diego and the people out riding on those.

Here's Al, attempting to get out of the circle thing. It looks as thou you ought to be able to go spin around it easily, but getting stuck is easier.

My folks & myself sitting up on the old light house. I must say, the ATV's were very fun.
