Photos: Brussels 2003

After visiting Brugge, the next day we hopped a train to Brussels to check that place out. Most impressive was all the stained glass and the huge couthouse... see below.

The view out the train window. Once again, looks very midwest-like.

I can't keep straight which church was which from the pictures, but they were all filled with stained glass - all over, even back behind the front parts.

More stained glass, and, another of those amazing pulpits. The only thing I haven't figured out is why there's two sets of stairs to climb the pulpit...

The organ pipes. I thought my fellow organ-lovers out there would enjoy this. Very pretty, too bad I didn't get to hear them played.

I think this was the church the previous pictures are from - but I won't swear to it. As you can see, lots of spires and such.

Me and Shirley, hanging out in the main square of Brussels. The 11 main guilds of old built their houses around this square. We were told to look for the one with the golden fox above the door. Not sure why, so we searched for it...

And here we found it. I guess I was expecting somethign more.

Ryan & I, in front of the peeing boy. I particularly like the smirk on Ryan's face ;).

Random garden area in town. I love the random guardens in Europe.

Now that's one big cookie.

This is the inside of the courthouse. Notice how small the desks are, those are actually nice large desks. Those pillars are huge! The whole building is pretty massive, and very amazing.

A few more church shots. Now this is what I call an arched entryway.

I'll leave you with a little more stained glass.

It's beautiful, very amazing.
