Photos: My House

November, 2004

Its long overdue, and I know, I've been putting it off. So here they are... some pictures of my new place, with some of my new stuff.

Starting from the outside, that seems the logical place. You'll notice my car in the driveway, not only because its so pretty and I thought it would look nice in the picture, but really its there because of my lack of a remote for the garage door opener. The previous owners threw them away after letting batteries corrode in them. After a bit of research, I've determined that the whole opener will simply be replaced - and perhaps the door with it. Some other interesting things, the sides of the house are painted but not the front. Also, there's an iron grate in front of that window that's mostly covered by the tree, that's going to be removed at some point.

I promise, I won't be as long winded on the rest. The front door. Pretty exciting. I've replaced the deadbolt, which is fairly obvious. The other handles I have, but haven't gotten around to them yet.

This is the garage. As you can see the laundry is here, with my new washer/dryer. Also, good storage spot for the lawn equipment, all of which is new. As you may have noticed in the first pic there's lOts of grass, somewhat unusual for Phoenix.

Before I take you inside, let's take a peek at the back yard. This is what the pool looks like from the back door.

And from the palm trees. Those tree like bushy hedges (i'm not sure what to call them), those are rather tall. And hard to trim. I'm still working on them, but I've definitly made some good progress.

A better shot of the patio, nothing too exciting here.

The rest of the yard is grass. You can see the brick wall I've been throwing together to surround the pool pump. I started several weeks ago, and haven't really progressed much since then. Maybe this weekend...

More of the yard...

The side of my house, misc bricks and stuff left by the previous owner - those are what I'm using around the pool pump. Also you'll see some laying over to the left - that's what I put the ladder on to get on top of the roof. Hey, it works. Plenty of room over hear for, say, a boat.

You've endured this long, time to come inside. We'll start in the kitchen, since that's the center of the house. My future plans are to basically rip everything out of here and start over. However, its really more accomodating than I originally thought it would be. Fridge and pantry are just off the picture to the left.

This is the room most of the people call the office. When people suggest that I setup my computers in one of the spare bedrooms, I don't think that they understand that it would fill the *whole* bedroom. I like to call this my "me" room, because its where I really do spend most all of my awake time while not in the kitchen. Computers, tv, instruments, and a view out to the pool.

This is the room that the kitchen opens up into. I'll probably end up moving the kitchen table out of here, since I pretty much never use it unless there's company, and putting it in the spot for the "formal" dining. I'd like to fill this room with some nice couches and coffee tables.

The living room turned theater room. You can see my new sofa. I'm not certain on the arangement of this room, my whole family thinks I should put the TV in the corner, but I try to explain to them that is not acoustically the best position - which they really don't understand. However, I may try a few things if I have somebody willing to help me move things around.

Lastly, some pictures of the master bedroom. The other bedrooms, well, they are just bedrooms. 3 of them. So here's the master...

And the bathroom - the shower/toilet in the separate room which has a door to the outside for access from the pool. I'd like to tile this area when I get around to replacing the carpet.

And, finally, the closet which is directy across from the sinks. Kinda skimpy closet, I filled it entirely with my clothes, granted I have more clothes than I need. I've got plenty of projects here to keep me busy for quite a while!
