Photos: Monument Valley (Arizona)

June 16th, 2005

So you know on the roadrunner cartoons? And there were those big tall rock formations out in the middle of nowhere that just jutted up way high in the air? Thats kinda like monument valley. You can see many of the formations from the main highway going by, however you can get better views by entering the indian reservation - of course they want to make a profit. We paid for the carload, having traveled so far, a few more dollars wasn't a big deal.

So, these pictures are kinda hard to describe, since they're basically rocks. Yup. This is a big rock with a tree in front of it, and another rock behind it.

Rocks in the distance

These too are rocks.

This is a road. Rather empty, as you can see - not too much traffic up here in far north arizona. Also notice the interesting rock formation ahead.

On our way towards Colorado, we found this nice side of the road cafe, "Twin Rocks Cafe". Aptly named. Very nice place, especially for being in the middle of nowhere. Good food too.

A closer view of the twin rocks.
