Photos: Pagosa Springs, Colorado

June 18th, 2005

After a short drive from Mesa Verde, we arrived in Pagosa Springs, Colorado - a town famous for their natural hot springs. We stayed at the hot springs resort, which had hat springs on their property. The water level in the nearby stream was so high from all the snow melt that it looked more like a small river. The springs were nice, although I don't much believe that their medicinal values are anything spectacular, but I will say it did help clear up my sinus congestion - at least until a few hours after I was out of the water. No pictures from night, I spent some time hanging around the pools. Talked with some high school kids who had snuck in (usually you have to pay to use the pools, unless you're staying at the resort). Interesting conversation, small town kids. One of the guys was talking about how if he had a big truck and a big dog to ride around with him he'd be happy. He was also the one who wanted to eventually own his own valley. Anyway, on to the pictures.

Here you can see the steps and the railing going down to where a pool normally would be, if it wasn't swallowed up by the river.

Here's one of the pools not in the river. They had several different pools fed by the hot springs. The pools were different temperatures, so you could go from one to another finding the right temperature.

Some of the pools had waterfalls too. This is mom, Ronato & Maria.

And me, under the waterfall. It was heavenly.

The next morning we visted the pools before heading out, and watched some rafters coming down the river.

On the way out of town, we stopped to take a look at this waterfall. Had there been more time, it would've been fun to hike up to the top.
