I'm trying to find a new church, one closer to home. I visited one today for the 2nd time since the senior pastor was not there the last time I visited. It was ok, but very contemporaryish. Also, the issue of the the openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church was brought up at the very end of the sermon and passed off far to quickly and unscientifically. No distinction between someone having homosexual desires and having sex outside of marriage was discussed. No references to scripture were made. That, and the pastor made it incredibly clear he didn't want to discuss the issue. I know, the church is more than just the pastor, and I could find something I don't like about any church I go to, but I'm going to keep searching, and I can always keep going in Tempe, it's not that far away. Or I can tag along with the old roommates if they're going somewhere not too far away. We'll see.
