I had class this morning starting at 8:30 instead of my normal 10:30 because the program I'm in likes ot change my schedule around as much as possible. I set my alarm for 7:30, should be plenty of time. Actually 7:32 since that's where it randomly stopped while I was setting it last night. I wake up to my alarm, and switch it to off to make it shut up. This is when you're *supposed * to wake up. Something important to explain is the way my alarm clock works. There's four settings for the alarm: Buzzer, Radio, Off, Set - in that order. So to turn it off, I just slide the slider over towards off, usually all the way to set. Thats what I did this morning. Only I left it on set, instead of moving it back. I guess I fell back asleep too fast. When the alarm clock is on set, it shows you the time the alarm is set for so it can be adjusted. This is good, unless you don't know that it's on set - then you think the current time is the time the alarm is set for. This is bad. I eventually re-awaken at 8:15. Tim's up banging away at his laptop still laying in bed above me. He informs me that my clock is showing the set time, and it's really much later. My reply was something like "that's not good, since I'm supposed to be in class in 15 minutes".
Given the conditions, I think I didn't do to bad. I was ready to be out the door by 8:25. Ready, except for one things. Keys. Keys are important. I didn't have mine in my pocket. They weren't on my desk. Next logical place? Yup, the pants I wore last night. I feel the pockets. Nope, doesn't seem to be there. Next? Yup, car. Did I leave them locked in the car? Grab my bag and spare car key and run out to my car, hoping I'll be able to leave right away. Wait, I have a spare. But I don't have a spare house key, which could be problematic. Keys aren't in my car. Time is ticking by. I'm already late. Drat. Back inside, I again re-check desk and bathroom and other areas that don't make any sense. After a quick check I again go to the pants. Whisk them off their hanger and am pleased to hear the sound of rattling keys. Why didn't I just do that the first time? Oh well, no time to worry about that now, time to rush to class and hope there's a seat I can get to without disrupting class too much.
