I got a free cake today. So I was hungry after work, and thought honey bbq chicken wings from KFC and rice sounded really good. So, I stopped by KFC on my way home. Placed my order, and was informed it would take 5.5 minutes for them to cook, I said fine, paid, and went and set down while I waited. And waited. And waited. The people in front of me had gotten their food and were eating it. And finishing it. And leaving. And I waited. After about 20 minutes, I got up and stood nearer the counter, attempting to get their attention. Finally I pulled out the receipt to look at the time stamped on it, and checked the clock on their monitors showing the orders waiting. By the time they finally got them to me, it was 25-30 minutes later. The worker told me he gave me an extra one since I had to wait so long. I responded by saying "one?". I then proceeded to show him my receipt with the time, and referred him to the clock. Trying not to be too annoyed, I explained that 1 extra one didn't really do a whole lot for me. I did appreciate he acknowledged my having to wait, but was hoping for something more. He then referred to a coworker, who offered me a free cake. I responded with "something would be nice", to which she responded "would you like a free cake?". I was sorta expecting an option, so I repeated myself. If that was the only option then duh, yeah, I'm going to take it. So I finally said "sure, a cake would be nice." So, I have this nice little cake, bigger than I anticipated, probably 4-6 good pieces.
I think I'm going to have some of my free cake, and ice cream now.
