Have you ever stopped to ponder this question? I think most of us have at some point in time or another, that or why am I created at all, if you're not one to believe in a God. However, let's presume there is a God, and this God is the creator of the universe, including humans, and he *specificly* created us, our existance is not by chance. Why? Why would this God do such a thing? He's already God, He *knows* he can do it, he can do anything he wants.
If you haven't guessed yet, this question is spawned by my reading of the purpose driven life. This comes from chapter 2. The book claims that God created us because "God is Love". Well that seems kinda silly. Or does it? So I stopped to think for a minute about creation. My human capacity isn't that of God, so I decided to think about what causes humans to creat things, and perhaps I could relate that to God. So why do people create things? I came up with a few reasons, the first one being because it's what we love to do. For example, my website, my journal, etc, is here because I love doing computer stuff, and websites. Nobody pays me for it, nobody is my friend simply because I have a website, it's just something I love to do. True, there are other reasons why humans create things, but one of them, and a major one, is certainly because of Love. And you know what's even more, when Love is the motivating factor, the creation is always good - just as Genesis says that all the things God created is good. Therefore, if God created us because God is Love, we must then be good. However, that's leading down a path of where evil comes from, and I'm not about to try to take a stab at that one.
And now, for your quick rundown on my life:
Friday - Went to work, lost my keys, got a ride home to get my spare key, had just enough time to not have to rush and still get to worship practice on time. Afterwards had dinner with Jenny at Wendy's, was good to hang out and catch up. Came home to hang out with boeingites, then went to bed.
Saturday - Went to work, came home, cleaned house, ate dinner, boeingites showed up, went to dinner iwth them again at BK, came back, played Taboo, not very fun imho, didn't feel very good - i think it was the BK, but by the end of the night I was feeling enough better to have some brownie & ice cream, went to bed.
Sunday - Church, lunch with tim & andy, Fry's Electronics with tim, came home, called grandparents, cleaned car, had good IM conversation with naomi, back to church for bible study, back home, minute rice & frozen vegies for dinner.
Before you jump on me for working on a Saturday, it was for a good cause. I'm skipping town this coming Friday to go to Mexico for a wedding on the beach! It should be good fun, going down with some folks from church. I need to update more often so they're not so long!
