The long awaited weekend finally came, I took off work last Friday to finish my preparations, including hair cut at the corner barber shop, and packing clothes and other last minute items. Finally it was time to leave for Marc & Hanna's wedding on the beach, down in Mexico. I was going down with a couple families from church, so I met up with the Rogers at their house and helped pack up their Xterra with all the stuff. We only had to make one trip back to the house for a forgotten item, so we did pretty good. We met up with the Burke's at church, and made for the highway.
The trip down was uneventful, we made it to Santo Tomas (about an hour and a half south from Rocky Point) just as the sun was going down, which wasn't so handy for pitching tents, but we did arrive just in time for dinner which was pretty handy. Saturday we took fishing boats out to "Bird Island" (called this because bird poop colored all the rocks white). The island was full of birds and sea lions, which I suppose is neat. We had a good time, but the most exciting part was the dolphins... tons of them, all over the place, swimming with the boat. I think I got some good pictures - I haven't looked at them on my computer yet. The rest of the day we spent around the beach, collecting sea shells, etc. We had 2.5 miles of beach to ourselves afterall!
The wedding was georgious. I got to see it from the back side, as my arms became the make shift sheet music stand for the keyboard. I didn't mind, it was a different perspective on things. After the ceremony we had dinner, dancing, etc... I even ate the fish. It was pretty good for fish. One thing sure was amazing, that was the stars. Its incredible what being far away from all sources of light can do for the stars. And to think, God placed each of those in its exact position just right so everything would work out, its pretty amazing.
Sunday we had a bit of a worship serivce overlooking the ocean before we headed out. We stopped in rocky point for lunch, and waited in the hour long line to get back across the border. We were amused as we waited in line at the authenticity of the "Wendy's" restaurant that served mexican food and hamburgers, among other things. In all it was a fabulous time.
In other news, I apologize for the recent Typhoon outages. I messed up my journal commenting code before I left, thanks to naomi for pointing that out to me. Also, today my internet connection went down, and we got a new IP address in the process so it will take a bit for that to propegate throughout the net. Hopefully soon I will get this bad boy moved to the DSL connection.
