First, some housekeeping...

Photos from mexico are posted. Enjoy!

Monday night I went to help Andy with his car, which had a dead battery. Went and had dinner afterwards, and I totally forgot I had bible study that night too, so I missed that. I could have made it too, just slipped my mind. Tuesday night Tim came over to finish up his german video - he needed a computer with DVI, and my nice dual xeon system is also nice for compressing, etc. Tonight I went to Tim's choir concert, at Gammage. It was very good, a tad bit long. I wish people would learn when to clap, and how to sit quietly. Oh, and don't bring your 2 year old either.

So back to 'purpose driven life'. I've been thinking about death more lately, perhaps because I've been feeling a bit more morbid lately, but more its just a perspective thing. Some people die young, some die old. Some may say "it wasn't his time to die" or "he was far too young (to die)". But what does that really mean? Nobody is guaranteed an amount of time, there's no set age after which it is ok to die. When you start looking at life in terms of death, one of two things can happen - either things become a lot more significant because we all only have a short time, or you determine that nothing really matters because hey, I'm going to die, and so is everybody else, so what does it matter.

A third option exists. Many of the things we value here and now aren't nearly as important as we think they are, and other things, "eternal things", are far more important than we give them credit. This is the main thrust behind chapter 6. This is not to say that things here on earth (the temporary things) aren't important, they still are, but their significance should be seen in light of eternity. For example, that person who just cut you off on the highway becomes much less significant with eternity in mind.

As you may have noticed, I skipped a chapter or two, as its hard for me to keep up with posting thoughts everyday - and sometimes I don't have any. So I'll try to pick the chapters that are more interesting to me.
