This is what I get when I leave my roommates to shopping at costco. They come back with not one, but two large bags of frozen fish patties. Salmon. Patties. This seems very wrong. For reasons of scientific experimentation, I decided to partake in eating one of these patties of fish tonight for dinner. Here is my story.

It was a long hard grueling day of finding things to occupy my time with at work. When the clock struck 8 hours after I had arrived, I called it a day and headed home. It was nearly a quarter to five when I drove past the barber shop, wondering if I should stop, but I had already gone past and decided it wasn't to necessary. I could just have my brother cut it this weekend.

I arrived home to find a car already in the garage. A blue car, honda, accord... this was a clear sign that Al was indeed already home. Upon entering the room of life I found this creature sprawled out on the couch, apparently doing nothing. We exchanged hellos, and I sat down to discuss the occurrences of the day. Before completing this conversation, I suggested that a scientific experimentation of subjecting me to this fishy food could be on the menu for the night.

After some mild persuasion, I started the grill heating and obtained the funky frozen fish short cylinders. The cooking process for these patties turned out to be very similar to any other patty, heat, flip, heat more. However, these patties stayed pink the whole time, giving no clear indication of their doneness. I added some time to the instructions for good measure - eating fish was enough of an experiment for one night, rawness is a whole other issue.

The supply of buns was lacking, so bread was toasted instead. Given the lack of greasiness of the fish this was a very suitable alternative. The quandary of what to top this sandwich with then took center stage. I opted to try it plain first, and then determine if ketchup, cheese, mayonnaise, or some other topping would suit it best. After a bite, which was surprisingly not disgusting, I decided to try ketchup. The first half of the sandwich I could have been eating a turkey burger and not really known the difference, other than the higher price of the fish. However, the fishy flavor slowly grows in one's mouth, and by the end you have had enough and would not want another bite. Perhaps some chips and salsa would be a good side dish as I'm sure the salsa would kill any fishiness leftover.

So there's your story. I am now officially a salmon burger survivor.
