Payson, otherwise known as the nearest not super hot town to Phoenix. Pay. Son. Hrm, wonder how it got its name. Anyway, my parents, brother, and a couple other folks went together to buy a 'vacation' house in Payson. For those of you unfamiliar, Payson sits just a bit south of the Rim - the Rim referring to the edge of the higher elevation of the northern part of arizona, basically this big wall that crosses most of the state. Payson sits in the mountains just south of the rim, with lots of pine trees around - sorta like a miniature colorado, but not quite. Anyway, enough geography, they got a place that has a nice view, which means it is just a few minutes outside of town on nice narrow single lane roads. That is, one lane for both directions. As much as I like driving, narrow roads are not my idea of fun. Furthermore, in order to get a house with a view it of course needs to be up on a hill so you can see out. This means steap windy driveways. Combine this with the arizona "rainy" season (they do get about 20" of rain in payson, so I suppose you can call it a rainy season). What you end up with is very rutted roads and he inability to get cars up the driveway. I didn't make it up the first time, actuall any time. My dad did manage to get my car up the driveway, and I proceeded later in the day to get the truck stuck too, which as the day wore on and more vehicles went up and down the road it got worse, so I blame it on that.
Ok, so enough rambling. We spent the time doing some minor fixing up. I helped put up some shelves and rods in one of the closets, as well as cleaning the kitchen/dining room floor which was all tile, and the recent paint job left splatters all over it. My brother followed behind sealing the grout. Had some fish (yes, I actually ate it... smoked salmon is ok). I had a boney piece, probably about 20 bones in all. Then today I got up and drove back to phoenix for church.
Now for the moment nobody has been waiting for, the worst pun from the day:
