2004.12.24 @ 02:33:32 Exhausted

So I'll try to make this short, but it probably won't be because so much stuff has been going on which is why I'm exhasted. So let's begin...

Wednesday Night was Zoo Lights with the HS Youth, followed by white elephant gift exchange (and some basketball thrown in there too, because, well, why not? Oh, and I still can't make a basket to save my life). Zoo lights was ho-hum, white elephant was a lot of fun. Basketball is always fun.

Today I woke up, finished cleaning my house (mostly) for my mom & her parents who are staying here tonight and tomorrow night. Ran to home depot to buy another torch lamp, then made it home with just enough time to put it together before they arrived. I cooked up some steaks that they brought, and we had yummy salad and bread too. Mmm, good food I don't eat when I'm cooking for myself. Oh, and I forgot to mention apple pie too. We then went to Costco which was crazy busy to pick up some bath towels and shampoo that I failed purchase ahead of time.

At this point I had to ditch everyone to go to church to begin setting up instruments and sound system for christmas eve service tomorrow. Thanks to David Sturk who is running the sound system tomorrow we will actually not only be audible, but sound good. I'm excited! At 5:00 we had everything in place, but not hooked up, and we were beginning to ge tired so David & I came back to my place where mom cooked up some grilled cheese sandwiches, and we had those along with some chips & salsa (which actualy go well together). It was fun because David is from Sweeden, and my grandma is from Italy of course, so we had quite the variety of backgrounds sitting around the table.

From 5:30 on was finishing sound system, practicing the songs (and tweaking sound system), finishing practice and then figuring out how to fix the remaining problems with the sound that we weren't able to during practice. Let me say now that I have a lot of respect for professional sound engineers. Its *not* as easy as it sounds like it should be. Example: the drummer needs to hear the piano, but not the vocalists, the bassist (i.e me) needs the piano but also the vocals, the vocals don't want the bass, and everybody wants to hear themselves. And then you have the house to worry about. After some creative problem solving, and using nearly all our combined equipment, I think everything is good to go for tomorrow. So... here's hoping things work... and I hit the right notes.
