So I ordered an OTA (over the air) HDTV tuner, and it arrived last night. I decided to go with the Humax over the Samsung. It was a tough decision, since as of late I've been very pleased with all the samsung products I've purchased, particularly the big TV which the tuner is going to be used for, and my current and previous two cell phones all have treated me very well. However, after researching, it becamse obvious that the Humax was the superior product, and cost $50 less. From the limited experience I've had with my new toy, I'm *very* impressed.

Compared to the pci card DTV tuner in my HTPC, the Humax is leaps and bounds ahead. Simply in the matter of picking up signals, it does a superior job. With the antenna simply laying on the roof somewhere, it was able to pick up over half of the stations in Phoenix. The computer may have found some stations, but only one or two would be viewable, maybe. The Humax was very easy to setup, all of the menu options make sense. I didn't have to read the manual to figure anything out, except how to program the remote to control my TV, which it does well enough that I shouldn't have to pick up my TV remote again. Granted, the functions needed are a) power and b) change inputs. It would have been nice if the remote was a "learning" remote. Thats about my only suggestion.

And now, its time for me to crawl into the attic to pull some wire for another ceiling fan!
