2006.06.09 @ 23:57:12 MPAA: Christianity earns a PG

This article discusses a new movie backed by the Baptists, which apprently some folks feel the MPAA gave it a rating of PG vs G because it has hints of evangelism. Not having seen the movie, or even read an article to the contrary I don't really have an opinion on this particular issue. However, it is interesting to consider - should the MPAA be increasing the rating based on "religious views portrayed", just like they do for sex, violence, and profanity? Somewhere you have to draw the line and say "look, you're just going to have to leave the movie if something offends you, otherwise we may as well give you a transcript of the movie ahead of time."

Or maybe even better, stop watching movies... or, at least don't spend so much money by going to the theater.
