2003.04.12 @ 13:49:44 Anti-War Call For Troops to Come Home

According to this and other news stories, some people seem to think we should up and leave Iraq. It rather bothers me that some people don't sit and think things through too much. Protesting the war, sure, I can see people not liking war - although I think if they had as much accurate information as, say someone like the President, they might have a different opinion (after all, we elected the guy to be the one to make such decisions), but I digress. Based on the news I read, it sounds like almost all of the violent type of war activity is over. Now, I've also read that the majority of Iraqis welcomed the US/British troops once they were no longer afraid for their lives to speak otherwise. To leave now seems rather premature. I'm certain there's much work our troops are doing to assist this country. Perhaps there's still a certain level of protection needed? Call me crazy - there was another news article from Osama calling up his folks to do some nice suicide attacks. I'm certain that our war strategist have a better understanding of when and how to pull out of a region than protestors. I'm glad their passionate, and energetic, but darn it I wish they were doing something more productive with their time.

In other news, or perhaps more accurate non-news, yesterday was the CA Hike. We took the long path up South Mountain from 46th street to Buena Vista. It was probably 4-5 miles or so, but it was a lot of fun. Afterwards some of us went to Arby's, and then a few more stopped by here to soak our achy muscles in the hot tub. It was all good times. I felt really sorry for the guy at Arby's thou, there was only one person manning the store, so they closed it to only the drive thru. Even then, he had more than his hands full. He managed to only make one mix up on the order too. I was impressed.
