2010.12.23 @ 01:21:03 Mastercard - no longer accepted here

Mastercard has decided they won't let you pay unless they like the business. Okay, okay, maybe that's not exactly right - they're just singling out a few places. I know this is a bit of a slippery slope, but it bothers me that banks can decide who you, the customer, would take such actions. I don't think that is really any of their business and it seems they would be better off staying out of it. But if they're going to get into it selectively, who is to say they won't start picking on other groups? Maybe they just don't like the red cross all of a sudden. Or perhaps no more giving to particular churches. IANAL, but it seems if they are taking action to stop for funding illegal enterprises, they would be claiming they have such a responsibility, and thus held liable for transactions to support illegal operations.

It's finally stopped raining here in LA, so I think I can get off my slippery slope now. Perhaps this is nothing new, just something more in the public eye. Regardless, I'm still not in favor of there decision to take these actions, even if all of what I said above is invalid.
