As you've read before, I've been working on making Typhoon a bit quieter. Well, I'm now experiencing the quietness with just one kink left to iron out. It's runnning from a single hard drive now, only it won't boot unless I have a 2nd drive installed on a normal IDE controller. So for now, I just spin that drive down right away. So the system is definitly in a heightened state of quietness :). Oh, and the new drive is much faster - read times of around 54 mBps vs. between 10 and 25 (depending on the drive). I don't think you'll really notice any difference... and if you do, it's probably psychological. Tim, I guess you were right... IDE drives are well above 33 mBps, although still not needing anything faster than 66 unless the o/s can do read-ahead into cache.
