Do you ever stop and thank God for the little things? I woke up this morning at 8:45. I realized my alarm wasn't going off, yet I was awake. I was awake, and, my alarm was set for 8:40. Why wasn't it going off? Did I turn it off in my sleep? This would be a bad morning to not wake up on time, as I was planning to pick up Tim for church. I check, yes, alarm is set. Yes, it is set for 8:40. 8:40 pm. So I stopped, right then and there, in my frantic moments after waking up to thank God for getting me up on time. And the rest of the day was awesome.

Jason moved in today, so we're now a tripple bachelor house. No dog yet, as he's going out of town tomorrow for a week or so and he (dog) is staying at his (Jason's) parents.

it's fun if you imagine angels coming down and playing with you to wake you up - messing up the covers, playing with the lights, poking you into consciousness...
i'm not sure how theologically sound that is, but it's a happy picture.

David says:

Sometimes they need to do more than just poke me... The most infamous stories come from my senior year of high school. Two incidents in particular, one was in Dallas, while visiting UT Austin, Al & I were staying with his father on our way there. It was a pretty long day of driving, and we didn't exactly get to sleep early, but had to wake up pretty early. Apparently they tag-teamed trying to wake me up, it was that bad. Saying my name rather loudly, etc. The other time was the morning of our graduation practice. Before practice was the senior breakfast. My mom was there helping serve the breakfast. I was in bed sleeping (bad alarm clock!). My mom tryed to call me on the phone, but that didn't wake me up. She finally had to drive home and shout at me to get me up.

I think I'm a little better than that now. So perhaps a firm nudge from an angel would do it most the time. But it does give a good explaination as to why my covers are always way out of wack. If only I would've known when I was younger so I could've told my mom "The angels messed up my bed!" :).
