I attempted to make Pesto sauce yesterday. Its actually rather disgusting. I think I'm going to throw it away, it seems to be beyond salvagable. Its so bad I'm not even really sure what I did wrong and what to do differently the next time. My lack of abilities here kinda bummed me out yesterday. That, and I cleaned the bathroom again which hadn't been done since before Tim left for Europe. Yes, even after Jason suggested doing a rotation sorta thing, and I suggested every 2-3 weeks given our rate of dirtiness. That was about 2 months ago, and I'm sick of nagging people.
Typhoon is back on a UPS again, so hopefully it will be nice and stable for a while to come. The DSL connection has seemed a bit flaky, so let me know if you can't access it so I can keep track, and find an alternative means of hosting as needed.
I bought some books, so be proud. Yes, I'd like to improve my reading abilities beyond the 3rd grade level so I figure its about time to start. That and I'm tired of even the little bit of TV watching I've been doing, and need some form of relaxing entertainment, so now I can go in my room and shut my door and not be bothered (hopefully).
What books did you obtain?
And for the cleaning thing, I learned the hard way that if you want your living space up to your standards of "clean" you have to do it yourself. Either that, or try and learn to live with it/not let it bother you. If you get all worked up about it and nag people about it, you end up stressed-out and upset and the other people involved are pissed and annoyed at you which aggravates your stress and it's just a never-ending cycle of bad. Life's not fair.
I agree, and have definitly learned that, but usually there's a difference in that people will do what they say they're going to do.
As for books, there's the 5 harry potter books (started the first in minnesota, figure I should keep on) and the 3 lotr books - as you recall I finished the first one this past winter. I was in a "boxed set" mood. But I'm currently reading "the five people you meet in heaven" which my brother gave me to read.
If you thought the movie version of Return of the King took its sweet time in concluding, brace yourself for the book. About a third of the book is post-ring-destruction. As for my reading, I just finished Tom Clancy's Debt of Honor, and figured I'd get his next one, Executive Orders, and read that as they're his only two that directly lead into each other, from my understanding. I figured the second would be shorter than the 990 pages of the first, but boy, was I wrong. 1358 pages. It's disappointing to spend three hours reading something and realize that you're less than 10% of the way done.
I've been warned about ROTK, we'll see if I make it that far anyway. Books should arrive today, we'll see if the FedEx guy is nice and leaves them at the door instead of making me drive to Tempe to pick them up - I even left him a nice note asking for that.
I finished "the fibe people you meet in heaven" last night. I think finishing a book in 3 days is a PR for me, although it was a rather short 200 pages. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the book, how "religious" it would be if you know what I mean. Not being a book connoisseur, I can't really recommend it or not recommend it - but I found it enjoyable enough, and easy enough to read but yet given the topic of death, it provided some things to think about too.
