Well I went ahead and did it. I wasn't going to, but I couldn't resist. They were on sale anyway. So I figured I should just come clean. Yes, I bought some speakers today. I picked up the floor models from chandler's circuit city, as they were $300 less than crutchfield which was the cheapest place I could find them. They are, well, awesome. I'm sold on polk. After listening to about everything else I could find in the price range, there's just no comparison. I've been playing with them, and comparing them with Al's 901's. Really, from my ears, its a wash between them. The 901's have a bigger sound stage, the Polk RTi12's have better overall sound, particularly clearer highs. I think I will eventually have to get poweramps for them - 100 watts makes them sound good, but 250 watts is definitly better at moderatly high volumes. But, that can wait until later. The list of things to buy is large and the cash supply has its limits.
Where are the pictures of your new house? Looked over your web site and can't find them? speakers ....well glad you found some you like but maybe a washer and dryer are more important!
wish i had that much money to spend on stuff....stupid housing and meal plan costs...
the magic of credit my friend... just have to use it wisely. I played around with them a bit more today, we had the power amps bridged which means instead of 250watts they put out 600. Oh yeah. Its amazing even at fairly low volumes you can still tell the difference. So down on the list go poweramps, although that goes at the very bottom, as they are quite expensive and not necessary.
