I realized I haven't done as many posts lately just talking about my day, so, I thought I'd try that again. So today was pretty action packed. Or, at least, I didn't sit around and do nothing all day. It started in the morning, as most days do. I woke up, and rode the bicycle (which is stuck in one gear) over to McClintock (high school) to do some running. I'm trying to make that a saturday morning routine. I ran my warmup lap, stretched, and did my mile, same as last week. This week I added some 100m sprints, 4 of them. Maybe next week i'll try to add either more, or something else to the mix. Of course, I need at least enough energy to bike home, which isn't too far.
Upon arriving back home, and having breakfast, I set out with my newly acquired $2 caulk gun to fix my leaking pool. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, and only took me about 30 minutes including getting everything out and putting it all away. Then I went to watch Dana's soccer game, and went to lunch with the "gang". Got home, and then did some cleaning of the bathroom, which I had been putting off for a few weeks.
Shortly after that, got a call from Al asking if I wanted to help him replace the brakes on his car. I said sure, and headed out to help him with that. We hit a bit of a snag trying to get some screws out that were in so darn tight even our drills couldn't get them loose. After many attempts (and driving home to get my drill which is a bit stronger than Al's), we ended up going to Sears and buying a new drill (cordless), and grabbing some dinner while we were out. I was skeptical that a cordless drill would be stronger, but due to its clutch, it had enough more torque to do the job. At least, sorta. We ended up stripping some of them, and that wasn't good, we had to drill them out, which was a bit of an ordeal too since the drill bits were kinda dull, but we got it done. Of course, we did all this work, and then moved on to actually replacing the pads only to realize that since we weren't going to have those rotars turned, it wasn't necessary to have taken those screws off. So, several hours wasted on nothing. But, we did get the brakes replaced, and everything put back together. So, it was't all bad in the end.
Dude, that's what impact drivers are for! ;) They're pretty sweet. You hammer them, and the downward force causes the bit to rotate about 90-180 degrees. Since you're hammering it, it tends not to strip the screw. Anyway, "impact driver" that's the tool to remember.
