2006.07.29 @ 12:12:59 Why the RIAA will lose

I tend to follow major legal issues surrounding the computer industry, but rarely discuss them as so many folks have differing views and most likely none of us have all the facts. However, this whole riaa/mpaa sue everyone in america dealio is really quite pathetic. After reading the article on Ars about some real attempts to get some open communication from the EFF, its become quite clear that at least the riaa has no intention of making any changes. They're playing the blame game where absolutly nothing is their own fault, and nothing they do is "wrong". People do this sort of thing all the time, it's a sort of coping technique, and a rather unhealthy one at that.

Dan says:

As you probably already know, there's also the whole thing with the RIAA getting busted for price-fixing a few years back (and more inquiries into it today). Maybe if they stuck to legal business practices, more people would stick to legally acquiring their music. Perhaps not, but it sure seems worth a shot. Also, perhaps they should rethink their "any publicity is good publicity" mindset.
