Ok, it wasn't *that* bad, but still. Every now and then things just happen, and this was not our day. In a nutshell, Lake Saguaro bad, Roosevelt good. An here, in no particular order (although close to cronological), are some highlights from today.

First of all, the participants of the day are Myself, Al, Mike who works at Boeing, and hi gf Mimi. We head out to Lake Saguaro, since Mimi hadn't been in a long time and had never made it up skiing. Saguaro is pretty well packed as normal, with lots of boaters out with tubers, skiers, wake-boarding, and the like. This makes for rough water. We all four skied, in two rounds with a long break in the middle (i.e. we all went at it two times). Mimi made it up her 2nd go around, although she was pretty close the first time too. Due to the lack of smooth water, much of the time we were following other boats, and when you pull a skier you can't really slow down. This is bad when the boat in front of you has someone on a wake board and they fall, as you suddenly have to dodge them. Also, my 2nd time around I took a pretty nasty fall when we were turning and there were big waves, and I was outside of the boat's wake, my ski came off and hit me upside the head. There's a definite swollen are, although no headache but it hurts to touch it. Additionally, we didn' have our flag up at the end after Al was done skiing, and he was hanging out in the water right next to the boat, and another boat ran over the ski rope.

So far we weren't doing all too bad, lost a ski rope and I had a small injury, oh yea, I lost a contact too, but that's happened before and not too surprising. However, upon pulling the boat out of the water, we get a flat tire. I mean, I'm literally driving up the ramp slowly, and I stop becaues the tire was spinning, and then I can hear a hiss as the air is coming out of that tire. Al's upset because he's not sure what to do at the moment, I don't think he realized why I had stopped. After a few quick seconds of pondering, we pull the boat out and stop on the side of the road where it's flat next to the other ramp. There's not really anywhere else to stop since all the parking is on the side of the hill, and the tire was leaking air too fast to try to find a real parking spot. We get the trailer unhitched from the jeep, and call Danielle, also a fellow boeingite who has a Silverado with a trailer hitch. We put the compact spare on the Jeep, and get it out of the way. The truck is wired for a trailer, but we didn't have the proper adapter with us to plug the boat in, so Al drove the truck and I followed in the Jeep trying to keep other cars from getting behind him and rear-ending him due to lack of tail lights, and cops from noticing and giving a ticket. There were 2 idiot drivers who not only cut me off but then tailed right behind the boat. Just a note to all of you, be doubly cautious when driving around vehicles with trailers, there's just that many more things that could go wrong. They are less maneuverable (handling, braking, acceleration), and therefore *you* need to be driving that much more defensively. Never pull in front of someone, that's an obvious idiot move, and don't follow too close behind, the trailer could come unhitched, something in the boat could fly out, etc. Ok, I'm done ranting on that.

I've been icing my injury, on and off, and I think it's time for more ice. And another episode of Star Wars (and I'm not falling asleep this time!)
