I'm beat. I thought I was on vacation...
Friday, we went to Topeka for lunch, and then on to Alma. It was Ryan, Dad, Grandpa and I, and John joined us shortly afterward. We loaded up an old fridge and freezer from the barn into Charlie (old grain hauling truck), and dumped them for burial in the woods. After that, we got to work trying to get chain saws to start to block up some dead trees in the timber. We had quite a struggle, Dad couldn't get his saw to start, so we had two from Grandpa and John brought two. We worked until the sun went down, which seemed awefully fast.
Friday night after dinner in Topeka, I drove back to KC to drop my brother off, and then doubled back to Lawrence to visit Bryan and his new Fiance. We talked for a bit, and watched the movie Old School. Then I drove back to KC to sleep.
I woke up and was back on the road to Topeka, had breakfast, then headed back to Alma with Dad, Grandpa, John, Mike and Matthew. We went back to work cutting, as Grandpa went after the wood splitter in town. Grandpa, Mike and Matthew started splitting wood up and then hauling it off. Ryan and Josh showed up just in time to take Grandpa to town to get the air bubble refilled because old Red (the pickup used for hauling wood) had a very flat tire. I spent most of the time sawing, until the end of the day when I stopped to help split and load. We unloaded the last of the unsplit wood, then loaded up that which was split onto John's flat bed trailer as the sun went down. We tied down the wood with chains and straps via headlights, and went back to Topeka for dinner.
We stayed that night in Topeka, woke up and went to church there. Anna's fiance, Fred, showed up in time for our "Christmas Dinner" that afternoon - prime rib... mmmmm. After that we exchanged gifts, and relaxed the rest of the day. We drove back to KC that night.
This morning I woke up early (as in, 0700) to take my car into the Nissan dealer so they could replace the O2 sensors causing my "Service Engine Soon" light to light up. I also had them show me how to adjust the headlights, as it wasn't very obvious at all at first glance. They fixed the car up by mid morning, and had superb customer service. I'm starting now to get ready to drive back to Tempe (leaving Wednesday) for the Fiesta Bowl. Oh, and I almost forgot, I posted my first set of photos from my trip to Italy. Also, I'll be posting some pictures from this Christmas too, probably when I get back to Arizona unless I get highly motivated tonight or tomorrow.
