So I'm back in Phoenix now, sitting at the airport. The flight in arrived way early, which threw off my master arrival plan, so I'm just waiting here in the meantime melting. Flight was good, came in from the east which was nice, leaving we went out the north side, so I got to see a different part of the city, not that its anything new.
So a short recap on the Minnesota trip is probably in line. It was a very laid back extremly extended weekend. As I mentioned last time, we did the water skiing thing, which worked out well because unfortunatly the weathe rdidn't really allow for another such excursion. I have a few photos from that to post, but the camera didn't get used much beyond the lake. On Saturday Tim & I went to the "Taste of Minnesota", so I could experience fried cheese curds. Well, not specificly for that, more because it was something to do. We did hear some rather good local bands, Dazy Head Mazy was probably the most impressive of those. We left just as it was starting to rain, and it very soon after was pooring down.
Sunday dried back up, which was good 'cause naomi was down at the grandparents waiting to do yard work. We did the church thing, and got to see Dr. Mom in action as one of the elderly gentlemen in the congregation had some problems during communion. He stablized fairly quickly and walked out with assistance, but the paramedics had to come and check everything out and take him to the hospital to make sure he was doing good. Sunday night was dinner at the country club followed by fireworks there. I honestly was a little disappointed at first, but the finale's (yes, plural... they did the whole fake finale before the real finale thing) - those were very spectacular.
Monday was rainy. Andrew, Tim & I went in search of OfficeMax for a deal (half price) on a LCD monitor for Tim to take to Germany this coming fall, however they and all other stores in Minnesota were sold out. That afternoon the three of us also went out to see the new Harry Potter movie, which we all thought was rather good. I particularly liked it better than the 2nd. Tim made his famos kabobs and rice for dinner, which was excellent, and we all went to cold stone afterwards to see Naomi working there. In my grand tradition of cold stone, I took the "Gotta have it" (i.e. large) size, the 'rents split the medium and tim had a small. Tim, who had his ice cream plain, is clearly not the right person to go to cold stone with.
Tuesday, another overcast day, started with a workout with Naomi... sprints. Oh yeah, sometime in there on Monday Naomi & I went running, distance, probably only about 2-2.5 miles I'd guesstimate. Anyway, back to Tuesday, we did sprints at the Jr. High which was quite a good bike ride away (5 miles?). My legs had a hard time as my quads are not accustomed to cycling, so I noticed in the running portion it was much more challenging to get my legs up. I made it, and nearly kept up the whole time. The rest of the day was spent bumming around really, watched a couple movies, played some piano, watched morrowind, etc.
And that finally brings me to today, which again started as mostly overcast but cleared up after lunch. Didn't really do anything in the morning, just some reading (started Harry Potter while I was there, with the first book). In the afternoon I dragged (or perhaps suggested, it doesn't take much convincing) Naomi out to do some Tennis and Basketball. We both are about equally bad at tennis, which made for a good time. Basketball was the real workout, did a little one-on-one. We didn't so much keep track of score, it probably was pretty close I'd guess. Definitly my shot needs some work, for given my height advantage and being in about the same shape, my lack of skill becomes very evident.
Okay, quick
