Rain. Yes, that's what's falling from the sky. To people in Phoenix this means a number of things. For example, if the ground is wet and it has stopped raining Frat boys say "It's pouring out - How can we have a BBQ in this downpour?" Well, sorry guys, but just because the ground is wet after a light rain doesn't mean you can't fire up a grill. Also, it means people loose all sense of control in their vehicles, reports of huge major accidents and cars on fire (yes, fire can still happen even when it's raining). If people in Seattle acted this way, well, they'd all be dead either by wrecks or by starvation.

Rain, that's what I was talking about. Yes, it rained all day today, and continues to do so. Or, perhaps its just now stopping. I very much enjoy the rainy days. Campus is always quieter. It cleans the roads and the air. It also helps keep us from taking the sunny weather for granted so much. After my Java class I had the opportunity to walk from BA to STR4, about a half+ mile walk. It was raining about as hard as it was all day, which wasn't extremely hard, but after tha long of a walk I was significantly wet. I also pulled a Matt and enjoyed a puddle or two along the way. Matt is about the only person I know who will carry an umbrella and yet jump into puddles. I didn't have an umbrella, but given the puddle's existance and a lack of a good way around it, I figured if I'm gonna get wet I might as well have some fun doing it. Oh, if you're not in Arizona I should explain something. It's flat here. It's not uncommon to have numerous large areas of standing water. Nobody ever designes for drainage around here. So, by the time I got to STR4 my jeans and shirt were pretty well wet.

Remember how I said that they don't design for drainage? That applies to the streets too. This can mean one of two things: Fun, or Danger. I choose to for it to be Fun. While driving down a major road in the right lane there's often some water piled up. This water is very fun to splash up onto the sidewalk and whatnot. As a curteous driver I check first to make sure that I'm not going to soak a pedestrian, that wouldn't be too nice. One must take care as driving thru water with only one tire causes your vehicle to pull, and once out of the water you must re-adjust quickly or you'll suddenly be in the other lane. Suffice to say, I displaced much water from the road on my trip home. I almost headed straight to Fry's Electronics to play in their parking lot (which is usually covered in a few inches of water after a rain like this), but decided against it in favor of getting into dry clothes.
