I don't think I've ever been this sore and exhausted at the same time. To fully understand it we need to start at the beginning of the weekend.
Friday
I sent an email out to a bunch of ppl about doing a movie at my place. Apparently its a horrible time of year for college students to try to plan that. As it turns out, Matt, Krissy, and a very humerous frosh gal in Krissy's bible study, Sarah, were the only ones who showed. We had a good time, watched The Mask of Zorro, and a couple celebrity jeopardies too. It was 1:30am by the time we said goodbye and goodnight. It was about 2 by the time I got into bed - and I was wide awake. I've been reading The Last Juror, so I picked that up hoping my eyes would get droopy and I'd fall asleep. It was 4am before I decided to put the book down and force myself to sleep.
Saturday
I slept until around 9:30 when I was awakened by a phone call from my mom. We talked for a short while, I also talked with my grandma for a while, and before I knew it it was 11:30. I was going to at least trim the bushes out front before it got too late, so I opened my brand new hedge trimmers and went to town. After finishing that, there was a good amount of debris I
decided the easiest thing would be to use my gas powered leaf blower and send it into the yard, then mow it up. I ended up mowing the whole front yard in the process. Anywho, after that I read a bit more, snacked some but not too much, then got cleaned up to go to the house of one of the worship band member's for a shrimp boil. I didn't eat the shrimp, I'm not really a big fan of that, but it was very interesting to watch and I filled up on other things. It was good times, got to socialize with the other band members and their families. This is getting long so I'll move on. I got home, exhausted, fell asleep right away- but ended up waking up a bunch of times through the night, once for long enough I got the book out again.
Sunday
I woke up fairly early, and decided to get to Church in time for the 9:30 service so I could sing along with the first few songs. Then, as normal, warmup for the 10:50 service with the band. After church was over there was a 3 on 3 basketball tourney hosted by the school. I was going to try to form a team, but that fell through. I showed up with gear in case a team was short a player. As it turned out, I was needed with the only post-high school team. It was a co-ed tournanment, which was actually pretty fun. Us "old" guys started off good, we beat a team of all frosh players from a local christian HS in our first game, followed by the gal's bball team, both fairly close games. We lost to the church HS team, as well as the local christian HS's older team, then ended it with a win against a group of girl soccer players. We ended up 3rd place out of the 6 teams, and the winner (by default) of the post-high school division. I think we could have beaten any of the guys teams had we played them first, but we were all pretty well out of shape. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and nobody got hurt which is always a good thing.
After that, I headed home to get cleaned up in quickly before going back to church to meet up with the high schoool youth group for a progressive dinner. We stopped at 3 houses, and I don't think anyone was close to being hungry by the end. So now I'm back home, not quite as sore from the bball as I was earlier but I'm sure tomorrow morning will be rough. Next year, I'm going to be in better shape... I hope...
