2004.12.14 @ 00:15:30 Oh Christmas Tree

So I bought a tree. I wanted a tree, and Sabrina at work *really* wanted me to get a tree so she could help decorate it, due to her lack of having a tree. Let me first say that finding this tree was a fiasco, getting it home was a bit of a trial, and well, putting it up really wasn't a problem at all.

Allow me to explain. I found the tree I wanted at Home Depot - I had decided to get a fake tree for a) ease of getting home, and b) general ease of dealing with. I didn't buy the tree that day, which was mistake no. 1. At that point I wasn't quite ready to buy. When I went back 2 days later they didn't have any left, nor did the other store nearby. The next day Sabrina was distraught that I might not get a tree, and she called and found a home depot out in AJ, and Queen Creek that had some. So I stopped by the one in AJ on my way home from work, and got their very lsat one.

It's a 7.5 foot tree, in 3 sections. The box is not 7.5 feet long, but it is too big to fit into my trunk, or through my pass-thru back seat. So, it had to go into the back seat. Easy enough right? Well, it looked like it would be close, and by close I mean *really* close. And it was. It didn't quite fit sitting down on the seat, but up on the arm rests its about 2 inches wider. Doing that, one side sticked just slightly out the window, which wasn't a big deal, I managed to make it home. However, if you stop to think about how most cars have door handles and locks right above the arm rests, you might think "hey, that box could be holding the door locks in the locked position." You would be right. I had to roll down the windows to lift the box up high enough to get it off the locks to unlock the door to get the door open to get the thing out.

Once out, Sabrina & I decorated the tree. She was nice and let me borrow her ornaments, so I didn't have to buy those too. The next day I bought a star and candy canes to finish off the job.
