I think I heard more spanish today than I ever have in one day while in the United States. But we'll get to that in a moment. First, started the day off when a nice late morning workout at the high school, I managed to get some sprints in following my mile workout. I think that's a sign of slow improvement, which I'll probably loose all of come Christmas break, given the weather conditions in Kansas as of late.

Then started the spanish... went to the funeral (see the last post), a catholic funeral entirely in spanish (the family is primarily hispanic). Having been to a few catholic masses, combined with my rusty spanish and the one other church service (baptist) I'd been to in spanish, I understood most of what was said, most of the time. Interesting nonetheless.

Afterwards I came home, and pretty much spent most of the afternoon either cleaning or reading. Currently reading Grisham's The Broker, which is set mostly in Italy - a lot of Italian language and culture in the book, I'm trying to see if I can understand the Italian words before I read the translated english. The funny thing is I have to sound them out, because for the most part I've only heard spoken Italian. Of course, thats pretty much how I read anyway, so its not too much different.

For dinner, Tim & I went to the Sub-Culture Cafe. I wanted to go to hear Troy play & sing, in his band - Twenty Something. They were pretty good, despite the technical difficulties. It was an interesting place, fairly small, I suppose like most cafe's are. One of these days I will learn the guitar... really.

Came home, and Al, Mike & Mimi stopped in after there dinner, we watched Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I'm glad to have watched it with Mimi, to translate some of the more difficult spanish, since for some reason there weren't subtitles. Interesting movie, kinda hard to follow. I think I liked Desperado better, at least it had better sound effects. And now, I think its time to sleep.
