2006.02.10 @ 19:37:23 How old am I anyway?

So I've discovered that I could be mistaken for a high school student if I'm wearing a black ASU baseball hat, and attending a high school basketball game. The last two games I've gone to, when paying they've asked me if I was a student. I found it slightly amusing.

So I woke up to a rude finding: Upon flushing the toilet it backed up. So I went to get the plunger, and went to town. It wasn't doing a whole lot of good, which is unusual. However the water did slowly retreat. So I poured some drano in too, and upon flushing once more I noticed something I really didn't want to see: water in the shower. Yup, it backed up into the shower... and the guest shower too, since those are the two lowest drains in the house. Disgusting really. This happened a few months back while Andy came to visit (which I still want to get out to SD sometime while he's there). Anyway, having experienced this before, I caled the city sewer people, and talked with the nice fellow there. Let me take a moment to say I am *very* impressed with the city sewere people. I left for work, and about an hour and a half later he, called me right away to let me know that the sewer main seemed to be ok. I explained a bit more about the history, and he offered to go ahead and have them run the snake down the main just to be sure. He even called me later in the afternoon. to let me know they were done. I came home and tested it out... actually tim tested first. The first flush went ok, but the 2nd didn't... still wasn't draining fast enough. I went outside to check the pipe there, and things seemed ok. I stuck the hose in to see if it would back up into the house from there and it didn't. Finally I went back to my toilet and noticed the water level all the way at the bottom. This was a good sign. I turned its water back on, and tried it again. All was good. I tested everything else out, including running hot water on every single faucet in the house, and "stress testing" the system. Again, all was good. I presume that the drano I had poured in the morning found the clog after the first time I flushed, and had worked its magic. What a relief that was!
