Here's a quick rundown on whats been going on.
Last Sunday was Easter, as you all know. Easter presents some unique challenges for churches, mostly that you have to accomodate a lot more people somehow. At Gethsemane this is accomplished by moving the services to the gym. Gyms are big rectangular boxes without much material to absorb sound... this presents interesting issues, in addition to the challenge of getting all of the necessary equipment moved... and then putting everything back, and spending some time cleaning up messy cables too. But as you know, all this is enjoyable stuff to me, for the most part, and in moderation. In addition to all that, we (tim & I) went to the Koepke's for easter dinner, along with the Rosenbaums and the rest of their family. It was a good time.
Monday night was the youth group leader's meeting. Its amazing how we could probably spend hours and hours talking about what we would like to do. One of the major items on the agenda was our "wish list" for a new youth room... which plays into the next event, Wednesday Night's congregation voter's meeting. The item of significant discussion was the motion to start a capital funding campaign which would provide funds to renovate the school buildings and build a new worship center building. The motion passed, which is exciting becaue it means that we get to proceed with working with the architect's to get some cool drawings done of what we want to build in order to show people what the future could be if we raise enough money.
Yesterday was Boeing's annual company event. This year was back at Golfland/Sunsplash. They rent out the entire facility all day, and split the day into two shifts. Al, Danielle, Chris, Matt, Krissy, Tim and I went. We met up with a few other folks from work there. It was good fun. Also good to see Al again, since he's not around Phoenix very much these days.
Today was back to a "normal" for Sunday. Church, lunch with some folks, then back home to watch the video, this week was on Baptists. We only have two more videos to go in that series! We'll have to figure out what to do next, in our small little 8 member group.
