2006.06.09 @ 00:10:25 Typhoon network update

The new DSL modem arrived today. Thanks to UPS and Newegg, although I've had speedier service, this wasn't bad. I got it all hooked back up and working the way its "supposed" to now. So, no more windoze box doing routing to typhoon. We can all be happy for that. I did learn one thing... DSL modems have a setting for "VCI", which if it isn't right, all the indicator lights will show green but nothing will work. I have absolutly no clue what VCI is, nor do I care at this point. I was happy that the instructions mentioned this setting, and that I was able to obtain the old value from the crippled modem. So, now your typhoon connection sports a new gigabit-capable router (not that you'll see any of that extra speed), and a new DSL modem. Now I just need to convince Tim that he should blow invest some of his first paycheck on a nice 802.11g access point for our new laptops.
