There I was, driving to my house with my friend Sarah of Garden City Kansas (showing her around town a bit). It's about 10:00 at night on Sunday, so not much traffic, and we're just heading down Baseline not 2 miles from my house, going between 45 and 50mph in the center lane, i.e. not doing anything even close to out of the ordinary... when out of "nowhere" comes a dark mitsubishi eclipse (or similar) with two people in the car (that is, their driving wasn't strange so I didn't take much notice). They pull past me just a bit, and as they do the passenger sticks his head out the window, then his arm and in his hand he's holding a gun. No, not a water gun, a handgun of some form. I'm no gun expert, and it was dark, but it looked real. He pointed it first at Sarah, then at me, which is about the time that I realized it was a gun and he wasn't just flipping me off for no reason.
WTF
Then, no sooner than it started, he turns back around in his seat, and they go speeding off. No, I didn't cut him off, or anybody else. In fact, there was nobody else behind or in front of me for at least half a mile. I have 3 hypothesis:
Sadly, I didn't get a very good look at the guy, and I couldn't read the license plate, so there wouldn't have been much good in calling the police, which probably would've just made the situation seem a whole lot worse. It probably would've been the right thing to do. Of course, that male part of me was half tempted to chase after them, and honestly I probably would have done that if I had been alone, at least in an attempt to get down their license plate. I did see them pull into the Peter Piper parking lot, and that was the end of it.
