2003.03.28 @ 01:44:57 Switchfoot - Twenty Four

I just got back from the Switchfoot, Noise Ratchet & Denison Mars concert with Jason & Dan at the Bash. It was loud. I can hear nothing out of my left ear, and only a bit out of my right. We got there at a very good time, we were close to the stage but not so close that we were standing under the speakers - but we were right in the direct line of the speakers which is always cool, and loud. There were a few interesting/neat/cool things that happened:

  1. Noise Ratchet's lead singer did some crowd surfing. I wasn't exactly expecting that. He kept singing too. The crowd put him back on stage pretty quickly thou. He lost the base to his wireless earphone in the process, but someone in the audience was nice and handed it back to him. After that he didn't get it put back and working until after the next song either.
  2. Switchfoot's base player broke a string on the very first song they played - ouch.
  3. Switchfoot's lead singer (Jon Foreman) sang into the pickups on his electric guitar. I hadn't seen this done before, but it sounded very cool.
  4. After Switchfoot played, they left the stage and after much applause of course came back for another song (actually two). As they came back the crowd was chanting "Twenty Four", the name of one of their songs that they wanted played. That wasn't what Switchfoot had planned, so they did the other two songs and left the stage once again. So the crowd again started chanting "Twenty Four". After a minute some of the people in the back started heading toward the doors. After another minute or two Jon Foreman, the lead singer from Switchfoot came back out. His words were something like "You are persistent!" After a bit of crowd talking, which gave us an opportunity to meet a guy named Ryan (useless information), he played "Twenty Four" solo - that is, if you don't count the crowd singing along. Afterwards he commented that it was one of the best moments for him on the tour so far.

Time for me to get to work, I have a writeup I told a group member I would have done, since I left our meeting early to make it to the concert. Thanks Anthony for letting me leave without doing all my work :).
