2010.08.05 @ 12:31:45 Wave sputters out

Google wave, the super-secret project that never went anywhere is no longer under development. Lots of speculation for why wave "failed", the water cooler talk says 1) terrible marketing and 2) lack of integration with traditional email / gmail. I'd like to toss out another one: lack of corporate buy-in. You know all those companies/non-profits/govt agencies that have "gone google"? If one of the problem was "nobody else to collaborate with on wave", but if you can get an entire company to use it then you don't have that problem. Further, if you can have wave replace traditional email such that all collaboration both external and internal could have been accomplished via wave, you'd have one awesome tool to finally get rid of MS Outlook for good.

But then, Google didn't hire me so I couldn't help them figure that out. Oh well.
