Adam turned 3 months today - no picture with Barry (the giant bear) yet - we'll have to do it tomorrow since we're in Payson AZ (and Barry stayed at home). More about the 3 month-a-versary later...
We left the La Mirada last week Wednesday at about 4:30am bound for Phoenix. Kristen had a few days off and we thought it would be a good time to introduce Adam to peoples in Phoenix and an opportunity for me to work for a few days in the office. It was nice to see all the work peeps again, and slightly strange feeling being in the office after working remotely exclusively for over a year. We got to introduce Adam to some dogs during our stay in Phoenix - working on building up those anti-allergy immunities! We also got to see some of the church peeps too, and we'll see a more tomorrow as we stop by church on our way back home.
After work on Friday we stopped by our rental house in Tempe and dropped Adam off with Julia (tenant in the house) for about 2 hours while we met up with one of Kristen's philosophy friends and then dinner by ourselves (mmmm Haji-Baba's). Its odd going to places that you used to frequent so regularly after being gone for so long. After picking Adam back up we headed up north to Payson.
Saturday Adam turned 3 months, and we celebrated by cleaning the cabin. Okay, not really - but we did do some serious vacuuming. To celebrate we went for a hike at the Tonto Natural Bridge. Although the entrance fee is a bit steep ($5/adult), we had a good time. We did the hike all the way under the bridge carrying Adam the whole way. Kristen had him for the most challenging part - I'm not sure I could've done it. Parents, cover your children's eyes now --- It was pretty steep slick on some of the rocks that you climb over along the way, and a pretty long drop off to a giant pool of water below. --- Uncover. We made all the way around without any incidents whatsoever. On our way out of the park we happened upon a pack of wild boars. One ran right in front of the car while I was enjoying the beautiful scenery (we were only going 20mph). Luckily Kristen jumped out of her seat and we stopped without running into any.
And in breaking news, Adam just flipped over from his stomach to his back. Life will never be the same again. Or... maybe we just have to be a little more careful where we put him down. Grandparents, don't worry, I got a video of the 2nd ever roll from stomach to back, to be posted sometime after we get home.
