We had a less than enjoyable car trip home from Phoenix (although the rest of the visit was very nice). All out bawling for nearly 3 hours nonstop. Last night Adam woke up just before midnight. We had a bottle ready to give him, so Kristen woke me up (since she wakes up first) and I reluctantly made my way into the kitchen and then to his room. I checked his diaper first, wet, so we took care of that. Then we sat down in the rocking chair with the bottle. It started out like normal. About 1oz later, he started screaming. And screaming. And screaming. Rocking. Patting. Bottle. Bouncing. Still screaming. Walking around, quite for a few seconds, then screaming again. This continued for over an hour and a half. And I mean screaming - not crying, there is a difference. A big difference. During that time we did another diaper change, and re-swaddled two times. Finally after swaddling the last time he calmed down enough to finish his bottle, then he fell asleep.

I'm a bit tired of people telling me (directly or indirectly) that "it gets better". I'm not sure that anyone has the power to predict that. Every baby is different... right? And we are certainly different. I know you're just trying to "comfort" us, but really, you have no clue if the quality of our lives is going to improve or not as Adam gets older. So please, do us a favor, and just don't. We're both smart enough to know that there's a number of things that could happen which wouldn't be "better". Thanks.
